WHAT HAVE HARINGEY DONE?

Haringey Council has deleted all Children’s Librarian positions.

Children in the borough no longer have access to trained

professionals to help them further their reading experience,

and the borough’s libraries no longer have staff dedicated to

curating and updating their catalogue of children’s books.

Help us petition the council to reverse this decision and

reinstate these positions. Please add your voice to our campaign,

because Haringey’s children deserve better.

WHY IS THIS SO BAD?

Without dedicated Children’s Librarians there are no staff to:

Empower and motivate young people.

Promote and nurture the habit of reading.

Build programmes that link the library to community groups.

Organize author talks and visits.

Choose resources and enhance library collections.

Design and provide engaging activities to help young people develop their creativity, interests and talents.

Without Children’s Librarians NONE of this will happen.
